The challenge
The builder's low-voltage package included six jacks, no ceiling access point locations and no camera runs, with the panel planned for an unventilated bedroom closet.
Existing setup
Framing complete, rough-in scheduled in two weeks.
What was installed
- 22 Ethernet drops — two per office, desk and TV wall
- Four ceiling drops for access points, including the patio
- Six PoE camera runs at entries and the driveway
- AV pathways and conduit to the theatre wall
- Rack relocated to a ventilated utility room with dedicated power
Equipment
- Cat6 cabling
- In-wall AV conduit
- 12U rack
- 24-port PoE switch
- Patch panel
Installation approach
Plan walked with the builder during framing, rough-in completed before insulation, trim-out and commissioning after paint.
Result
A home with technology infrastructure that did not need to be retrofitted — and spare pathways for the next decade of devices.
