This Privacy Policy explains how Cabling.com ("Cabling.com," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when you visit cabling.com, use our marketplace, job board, sourcing beta, AI Copilot, directories, newsletters, or contact us for a quote (collectively, the "Services"). This page is maintained by Cabling.com to answer common privacy questions. It is not a certification or legal advice.
1. Who we are

2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account & profile: name, email, phone, password, role (candidate, employer, contractor), company, headline, skills, work history, resume, avatar.
- Job & marketplace activity: job posts, applications, saved searches, bids, opportunities, blueprints, estimates, messages.
- Directory & company records: business name, address, service area, license number, certifications, and verification documents you submit.
- Quote & contact requests: project details, site address, timeline, budget, and other information submitted through our forms.
- Payments: billing name, address, tax information, and the last four digits/brand of the payment method (full card data is handled by our payment processor, not stored on our servers).
- Communications: emails, support tickets, survey responses, and newsletter preferences.
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser data (IP address, user agent, language, referrer).
- Usage data (pages viewed, search queries, clicks, time on page).
- Cookies and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, and analytics.
Information from third parties
- Public job feeds and permit data we ingest to populate the marketplace.
- OAuth providers (e.g., Google) when you use social sign-in.
- Payment processors and identity/verification partners.
3. How we use information
- Provide, operate, and improve the Services and match users to jobs, bids, and contractors.
- Authenticate accounts, enforce role-based access, and protect against fraud and abuse.
- Process transactions, subscriptions, and job-posting purchases.
- Send transactional emails (quote confirmations, alerts, bid status, account notices).
- Send newsletters and marketing you opted into; you can unsubscribe at any time.
- Power the AI Copilot, search, and personalization features.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
4. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the Services you request), legitimate interests (to secure, improve, and market the Services), consent (for optional cookies and marketing where required), and legal obligation.
5. How we share information
- With other users, when you choose to: employers see candidate applications; candidates see employer profiles; bidders and buyers exchange messages within the platform.
- Service providers ("subprocessors") that host, secure, and operate the Services on our behalf, including cloud infrastructure, database and storage, email delivery, payment processing, analytics, and AI model providers. These providers are contractually limited to using data only to provide services to us.
- Legal & safety: to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Cabling.com, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by California law.
6. Contact information on public pages
Contact fields on bid opportunities and directory listings are hidden from anonymous visitors and shown only to signed-in users who have the appropriate role. Award-related contact exchange in the Sourcing beta is filtered before award to reduce off-platform circumvention.
7. Cookies and analytics
We use strictly necessary cookies for sign-in and preferences, and analytics cookies to measure usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling required cookies may break sign-in and other features.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations (including tax and accounting), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion as described below.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards including encryption in transit, role-based access control, row-level security on our database, private storage buckets for uploaded documents, and audit logging. No online service can be guaranteed 100% secure.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you.
- Port your data or restrict/object to certain processing.
- Opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link.
- Appeal a denial of a privacy request.
California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and limit use of sensitive personal information. To exercise any right, email admin@cabling.com from the address on your account. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
11. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
12. International transfers
We operate in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., you understand your information may be processed in the U.S. under applicable safeguards.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date and, where required, communicated by email.
14. Applicant Data & Retention
When you apply for a position at Cabling.com, we collect information from your application and resume, including but not limited to prior employers, job titles, employment dates, and location history.
This data is used to evaluate your candidacy and may also be used internally for hiring analytics and market research. We retain applicant data for up to 10 years from the date of application. Your data is not sold or shared with third parties.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing privacy@cabling.com. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by applicable law.
