Community guidelines

The Cabling.com community exists to help commercial low-voltage professionals learn, share, and hire. These rules apply to forums, comments, and knowledge-base contributions.

Be professional

• Assume good intent. Disagree with ideas, not people.
• No harassment, discrimination, or threats. Zero tolerance.

Contribute high-signal content

• Search before posting — link to existing threads or KB articles when relevant.
• Cite standards (ANSI/TIA, NFPA, IEEE) with revision and section where possible.
• Include photos, diagrams, or test data when they clarify the question.

No spam or self-promotion

• Promotional content is limited to appropriate sections (e.g. Marketplace).
• Affiliate links and mass off-topic posts are removed.

New accounts

• New members may be rate-limited or held for review while trust is established.
• Verified experts and moderators can act faster on flagged content.

Moderation and appeals

• Moderators may pin, lock, remove, or restore threads and posts. All actions are audited.
• To appeal a moderator action, reply to the removal notification or contact us.
